The Student Development Programme
CJALtd has created this Student Development Programme to encourage young artists’ to further there skills in a paid working environment that enhances various abilities and achieves vast Portfolio Development.
The student works from the ground up shadowing Christine and Rob in various community groups and/or developing a range of Public Art features gathering knowledge of company procedure and how to liaise with the community to best effect.
As the skill base is improved and confidence grows the student is encouraged to further their training in communication, time management and production management by completing commissioned roles set out by CJALtd. The company’s working environment allows the student to share ideas back and forth with the directors’ provoking discussion and solving issues along the way.
In the Student Development Programme it is made clear that CJALtd create flexible working patterns that suit the needs of the student and their full time studies. The commissioning roles are only made available to them if it does not effect there studies and know the company’s deadline can be achieved.

Whilst studying for the last two years I have also taken part in various community regeneration projects with Jamieson & Associates Ltd. I have worked on projects involving large and small scale painting (murals), storyboard illustration, mosaic construction and metal work. Each project has been as different and as enjoyable as the next. Seeing every stage of the project right through from start to finish has also been very satisfying. Working with members of the community has allowed my confidence to grow, through the personal development programme I now look forward to leading group presentations apposed to my previous role as assistant.
My portfolio has grown as a result of the commissions, the skills and experiences acquired have contributed to the projects within my degree.
